I had the good fortune to meet Becky when she was a student in my 8th grade English class at Reynolds Junior High in Lancaster. I remember her as a seriously bright young woman who had a wonderful sense of humor and cared deeply about all around her. As a track and field official for 52 years, I followed her coaching career at Mason through contact with her mother, once again noting how meticulously she studied the throwing sports and how warmly she treated her athletes. It was wonderful to read the many accolades from friends and former athletes who had daily contact with her, and, although my contact was minimal after she left Lancaster, I remember her with great fondness as one of my early teaching joys.
