Coach Hartley made the transition from high school throwing to D1 collegiate track and field so smooth for me. I will always remember the first time I met her at Falls Church High School at an All-Comers Meet to watch me throw hammer. She was a very persistent but also patient coach. She never took no for an answer and always thought of another angle or approach to get us to the mark. She required not only 2 a days for 5-6 days a week but wanted us to excel as student-athletes out of the circle too. I hope you are at peace and know all the lives you have touched as our coach. I hope you have your enormous mug of tea and a full bag of Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Cups. Thank you for the memories – we will miss you Coach Hartley!
